Getting stranded while on your way to an important destination can be frustrating. Our team is here to inform our Fredericksburg, Boerne, San Antonio, Kerrville, and Comfort customers on how to jump-start your car, truck, or SUV, so you can be prepared if this problem comes up. You’ll need a helpful person with a working battery and a set of jumper cables.
- Have your vehicle and the vehicle of whoever is helping you face each other. In case your vehicle is on any elevation, make sure your parking brake is engaged.
- Find the batteries of each vehicle under the hood.
- There should be two battery terminals in each vehicle – one positive and one negative. Locate these.
- Using jumper cables, take the red clamp and place it on the positive terminal of the dead battery. Then, connect the other red clamp to the positive terminal on the working battery.
- With the black clamps, you’ll get the first one and connect it to the negative post on the working battery. With the other black clamp, connect it to a metal surface on your vehicle that is free of paint.
- Start the engine of the vehicle with the working battery, then try to start your engine.
